Herdr is an open-source native app for running and shaping coding agents by asking, with persistent background processes and multi-machine support.
Herdr is a native application designed for running coding agents that users can shape simply by asking. Because every window and layout can be modified through AI, no two Herdr environments look alike. It runs agents inside herdr-core, a lightweight background server on your machine, ensuring that your agents continue working even if you close the application, update it, or experience a crash.
herdr-core, tasks remain running even when the app window is closed.Herdr is a native app for running coding agents. They run in a background server (herdr-core) so they keep going when you close the window, and your agent can change any part of the app layout.
It works with any agent that runs in a terminal. Agents supporting the OSC 7501 protocol also report real-time status like working, done, or needing your attention.
Quitting or updating the app changes nothing. Every agent keeps running in herdr-core in the background.
Herdr runs on macOS (Apple silicon), Linux (x86_64 and arm64), and Windows (x86_64), with additional machines joined over SSH.
Yes, the app, herdr-core, and Herdr TUI are open source under the Apache 2.0 license.
